Hello,
I currently work in the NHS. Myself and my partner are both going to be sharing shared parental leave.
I'm intending in remaining in this job, however, I am additionally wanting to do some work for myself on the side in a field I really love as I now have picked up the relevant qualifications.
I am anticipating taking this leave in January and has been agreed by my employer. I will then be coming off it in April. I am wanting to register a business as a PLC on companies house to protect the name and would anticipate hopefully earning from the business in Summer/Winter next year. Will registering the business cause any issues for both our shared parental leave and also statutory pay benefits?
Thanks

I doubt you will be registering as a PLC, perhaps you meant a Limited Company. There is a big difference.0

Sorry yes good spot. Private Limited Company. I have had a registered business in the past, however, not when in current employment and looking at paternity and shared parental leave etcPhoenix72 said:I doubt you will be registering as a PLC, perhaps you meant a Limited Company. Quick sidetrack in case it's helpful....check the availability of a domain name, too - and register it in readiness. There's a brisk trade in people spotting newly formed companies, registering various variants of the name as domain names, and then writing to the registered office offering to sell them a 'suitable' domain...Andybooth23 said:Hello,

ThanksGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!1 -
But it could look even more professional to be a PLC.Phoenix72 said:I doubt you will be registering as a PLC, perhaps you meant a Limited Company. There is a big difference.
(Some people would think it was a bigger organisation or even that it was publicly listed on a stock exchange.)0 -
It'll just look daft. The registration requirements are also more stringent than for a normal limited company.General_Grant said:

Anyone who understands what PLC means will also have the ability to check out the listing on Companies House...or simply look for a huge impressive website which won't be there...Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
Just on this also, I think there's a few sneaky websites currently where when you type in gov.uk company name checker to gain availability, a lot of the ads are for OTHER websites that I suspect will be quickly registering the domain name like you say!Marcon said:

PLC's can be private. If I recall correctly requires issued share capital to be at least £50k.General_Grant said:
