Hi not sure what to do
went for a eye test, was told i have 19/19 +0.50 and +0.50 and that i dont need prescription glasses yet, however optician said as i work on computer 7 hours a day, 5 days a week he recommends vdu glasses and that cost should be covered by employer.
the cost £140 for lenses, £40 for frame, total £180
spoke to hr and they say thats expensive, they want breakdown and they will only cover cost of basic vdu glasses.
written on the eye test script is
Single Vision - Near Tint
Single Vision - Near Tint
- Distance Hard Coat
Bi-focals Scratch Resistant
Vari-Focals Photochromic
any idea what i should do, is that the price or can i get them cheaper.

which opticians would be best for these type of lenses.

If you only need them for VDU work, then vari-focals / tint / bi-focals etc are totally not required. Unless there is a clear medical reason for them ( unlikely) they are quoting you choices and not needs.1

I wear varifocals, however for my workstation I found that a pair of single vision glasses made to my intermediate prescription value worked much better for me.
With cheap frames and no coatings or tint I think they were less that £50.
However, with you only needing a very small correction with the same in both eyes unless you have very odd eyeballs then a pair of off the shelf +1.0 reading glasses may be suitable.

Spoke to VE and they said the basic cost for vdu glasses would include; single vision lense with blue tint (70 quid) and plus basic frame £40...
i think we need the blue filter / anti glare filter on the lense as a must to preserve eye health
