Query: Creditor reinstating direct debit once cancelled by debtor

This may sound somewhat paranoid, but I was reading a forum post on Legal Beagles yesterday where I saw that a forum member had stated that a creditor has reinstated a cancelled direct debit as they were still owed monies by the debtor.
Apparently, the poster got little help from his bank. The Direct Debit guarantee implies safety for the debtor in these circumstances but I wondered if anybody has experience of this?
Lendable contacted me to let me know that they were aware that I had cancelled my DD and asked 'should we reinstate that for you?’
It was an email and I didn’t respond.
Thank you!

I think if it's a debt like say council tax they can apply up to 2 times for the payment., I guess the same for creditors until they realise the direct debit has been cancelled, you must cancel it at least the day before, preferably 3'days before
but if you close the direct debit at bank , the bank can warn you if this is a debt, you still owe it
but direct debit guarantee prevents the creditor from reinstating the direct debit
but you have to watch you have breached the contract of repayment terms
thr fca will take on complaints if the creditor reinstated the direct debit without your permissionChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )
