Recently my Indesit washing machine has started emitting beeps throughout its normal programme. It's usually a matter of three short beeps but can be more. Does anyone know what this means? The manual went awol years ago and I haven't a clue.

Can you track down an online version of the manual?1

Our Hotpoint has been doing that for a couple of months, no idea what it means but it seems to work fine so we are just ignoring it.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy1

I have an Indesit and know the three short beeps sound at the beginning or end of the cycle and also if the door isn't closed properly but it can't be that, otherwise it wouldn't work at all. I still have the manual but can't find anything in there about beeps in the middle of a cycle. The only thing I can think of is that the filter might need cleaning - the small square flap at the bottom right at the front of the machine. Maybe worth a try?Be kind to others and to yourself too.2

We have the same problem, from what I can see it's a fault with either the board for the front panel or the connection between it and the rest of the machine. At one point I stripped ours down, reseated the board and it went away. The noise is just irritating but the real issue is that the board is acting as if someone is pressing buttons. This has no impact most of the time during operation because the lock mechanism activates and button presses are normally ignored whilst that's the case. If the program has ended or the phantom button presses manage to do something that is possible with the lock active you get a problem. I'm not sure exactly which scenario caused it but we have had times when washing has been boiled either because the program ended and a phantom press happened or something was selected during the program. There seems to be no cure as such although like I said I stripped and rebuilt ours and it went away for a while. I know that our machine isn't particularly well balanced and it's on a suspended floor so it could be that excess vibration doesn't help.
My advice is don't leave it running when you are going out and set a timer elsewhere so you remember to go back when it should be finished just in case it decides to do something odd.0 -
Ours started beeping because someone inadvertently activated the child lock. It can’t be that in your case because the machine wouldn’t work at all. My point is that we were able to reset it by holding in the start button for several seconds. Worth a try?It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
