I have someone asking me about courses to do maths and english, They have been told to go on the Alison website, as far as I can see they don't have the GCSE courses. They have been told by the job center or SeetecPlus to go on that website.

If GCSE qualifications are what this other person actually needs then I'd suggest enrolling in adult education classes (which will be starting next month). These are likely to be at no charge for someone who does not already hold equivalent qualifications. Time spent on Alison this month could help prepare for the assessment before enrolment too.2 -

I suspect he might have been asked to look at https://alison.com/course/gcse-english-preparation-training?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Performance-Max_Tier-1_Publisher-Acquisition&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn9y1BhC2ARIsAG5IY-7SQyqMarKTx58THxkDI9DaaCKzZ_RPkt6yiEPe9dJ3l1gPDYluDPUaAmfmEALw_wcB
I wonder if https://www.gov.uk/improve-english-maths-it-skills#:~:text=If%20you're%20over%2016,or%20maths%20to%20GCSE%20level might help locate a suitable courseGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!2 -

If not I will show him the gov site, if all fails I could go to the job centre with him and find out what they want him to do.0 -
He needs to find out exactly what the employers requirements are. Level 2 functional tests are accepted by many employers and may be quicker and easier to obtain than GCSEs. They are often what apprentices without GCSE do - most of my apprentices can sail through them in less than 3 months. They are often free courses. We have a couple of local providers who do intensive pass courses for free too and many people can pass in weeks.1
