For an in store purchase you have no automatic right to a refund when you cancel due to a change of mind.
You may be able to get a refund if they do not deliver according to the Ts and Cs which you have signed.
Time to get out the contract and read the Ts and Cs regarding cancellation and delivery timescales.

Paying by CC makes no difference in this case.
All you can do is ask retailer & see what they are prepared to do. But as above in person there is no right to a refund.Life in the slow lane1 -
The retailer may be more amenable if the alternative (smaller) furniture is chosen from the same retailer.1
