Morning all
Sun is shining at the moment but don't think it's going to last and that blasted wind will not go away
The highlight of my day today is a mammogram. All for a good cause, obviously
More Olympics and a bit of ironing too.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs and lots of spoons to those who need them xx

Thank for starting us off @Chrisca.Morning all, it's very murky and wet here. Yesterday we had a series of very short lived but sharp rain showers all day. I did my shopping trip and nothing of note else.I watched the skateboarding and barely understood a word of the commentary (apart from the loud 'wows' and squeals) so am now the wiser. What's an 'alley oopp'? Only know that one because of the subtitles.
Loved it though. I am really enjoying the less traditional sports this year. Speed climbing is outstanding as is 3x 3 basketball. The BMX tricks rounds had me mesmerised too. I don't want to watch any more golf or football, ever!
Today I have no set plans, as always it's all weather dependent. The pain killers are really helping at night especially, whilst I'm not counting the days until my jag I am looking forward to it.Hugs and healing thoughts to all. Here's to a smooth day.9 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Chrisca, enjoy the olympics.
The weather isn't looking very promising and I've a load of white washing to do, will probably leave it inside. In between the dreadful showers yesterday there was some sunshine but not much. The little one and I picked a huge bag full of peas - well I picked and she ate! I've shelled them all and put some in the freezer and will take some to DD when I pick the little one up today.
We'll have a morning playing games and reading I should think and a library visit this afternoon to make a summer wreath, I'll pick up a prescription for my manky toenail on the way.
Sounds like the builders are going well taff, won't be long until you're all straight again.
Hugs to you Mehefin.
Hope the little one is improving dp1 and you're enjoying your holiday with your DD.
Hope everyone's well and you have a good day. Take care. XX9 -
Morning folks and thanks CHRISCA, More Olympic watching today here too. I'm not sure I envy those currently doing the marathon swim in the Seine, even though they say the water quality is safe. I was deprived of watching much yesterday as I was out most of the day, although I did catch up in the evening.
As usual we had a good trip out but crikey it felt much cooler compared to the warm weather we have been enjoying. There was quite a nippy wind blowing and I was pleased I had put a jacket on. Bus buddy just had a light cardi on and was regretting not putting something warmer on. Today we are promised a return of warmer weather and the sun is shining but there is a slight chance of some light rain showers later.
I suppose I ought to tackle a few jobs today but I will look at the Olympic schedule and see when I can fit it in!! I poked my nose in the garage when I got back yesterday tea time and there is still a lot of DGD's stuff out there but I haven't had an update on what they actually took and how it went. I don't think I want to know!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need, especially our poorlies or fed up. Thinking of MEHEFIN and Dp1. Take care all be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning. It was a quick in and out yesterday to stack some blocks, tretsles and the like. Walls are going up today. I'm gobsmacked at how fast it seems to be going. And they're good boys, they tidy up every night before they go. Unfortunately, there's some food waste to put out, I haven't been much on the ball with using stuff up, so there's some spaghetti sauce to go and yoghurt. I'm a bit annoyed about that. My sister is coming up tomorrow for a weekend of planning so I'd better make sue there's some meal planning done in advance. Because she didn't come up last weekend, I'd forgotten I'd booked for me and the OH to go to the cinema to watch Borderlands, so I'll have to leave instructions re the computer. She won't be used to Linux...ehefin, I hope today is going easier in terms of planning and deciding. Gers, glad you've found a way for the paint o ease off a bit, maybe they'll bring the jag forward! Chris, yeah, don't forget that, very important.. Izzy, had a snort at carry on references
I know what you mean about food things. Sometimes i think I'd like to go out more often but I know whatever I cook will be better
Ruby, just a box on the back that will be a downstairs bathroom [ future proofing but it applies now too
] and a kitchen diner. With room to swing lots of cats. nanny, hope everything is going ok. Bella , nice to see you the other day
SO, hope things are getting a bit easier for you too. And your confidence is coming back. Take care all, must go make more tea!

Morning all from Mehefinland
I say to myself each morning, ' you're not going to get maudlin'. Well sometimes it fails but I am trying.
Still waiting for the all important Cert, so everything is on hold for now.
Her oldest friend came up from the Gower to see me yesterday , and we had a good laugh reminiscing of some of the antics they got up to as young girls/women, with many happy memories for us all.
I try to make good use of my time, so went to the library in the nearest town as they had some useful poetry and prose books relating to bereavement ( my village library is only open part time and they wouldn't have had them anyway).
Whilst I was in town I popped into the CRUK shop to see what sort of things they take when the time comes. 2 very nice ladies showed me around, and were very supportive, and also pleased that I wished to donate Dawn's good stuff to them for re-sale. I was amazed when they said they were open 7 days a week. It's quite an affluent town ( more millionaires per sq ft than your average) so hopefully they will get some benefit.
Also popped into WH Smith ( remember them!!) and got some A4 photo paper - gosh what a price !!
Not a bank to be found though, and this was a flourishing market town. It so long since I had been there I didn't even know the cattle market had been demolished and a carpark put in its place, albeit temporarily .
Met a lovely lady walking an elderly chocky Labrador , he was so like my old Fudge, and he didn't like puddles either. Must be a chocolate lab thing. My 2 black ones loved the water. Had a long chat and then bumped into her again some time later. I'm not sure if I want another dog now, it won't be the same without the boss here. Also I don't know if adopting a rescue will be feasible because of my age ( they can be a bit funny about older adopters - suppose they expect the poor dog to be going back to them soon). We shall see.
Today's excitement will be sitting by the phone, waiting for the call to go to the Registar. Oh, and I need to pay a deposit to the FD - her card machine was kaput when we were there. And you would be pleased with me, as very MSE I got a discount for being a Co-op member. Only £50 , but in my pocket than theirs. It will pay for the sunflowers!
Heard from both brothers!! and DS yesterday. All wanting the same info more or less. Just in limbo currently.
Hugs and spoons as always

Thinking of you Mehefin , it’s such a strange time ,periods of great activity interspersed by waiting ,waiting .
I know you’ve decided no flowers ( as did I for the same reason ) ,but have you thought of just a spray of her favourite flowers for the top of the coffin ,makes it look less bare somehow .Do hope that isn’t the wrong thing to say I certainly don’t mean to upset/ offend you .7 -
Morning all. I'm off for a blood test this afternoon to find out why I'm so chronically tired. Then baking two corned beef and potato pies, one for the next four days and one to freeze. Might bake something sweet while the oven is on, maybe cookies. Put some of those in the freezer too before I eat more than I should8

Mehefin, we adopted a dog last year at the ages of 67 and 70. The rescue were happy as we're retired and at home with him all day.
Thoughts with you as always9 -

Not offended in the least. Had planned to put a single sunflower ( the one with the biggest head I can find) as a token. I always get upset when I see so many flowers and arrangements wasted at crematoria. I am hoping my actions will start some sort of continuation of process and a circle of life. I bought 3 pkts of seeds yesterday ready for next year's enterprise.
Remmie - thanks for that information. I shall keep it in mind.
