PayPal credit query

I have a query in relation to PayPal credit that I hope somebody can advise me on.
I have cancelled all my direct debit payments to creditors. One of my creditors is PayPal credit. I owe them £2433
The next DD payment to them is due at the end of August, usually about 28th of the month.
It dawned on me today that I have a ‘regular’ PayPal account
that can be used for eBay purchases and other online purchases with some retailers too.
Payment is
made at the time, there is no credit involved.
There is a payment card and bank account linked to the
regular PayPal account. The same bank account that the Direct Debit for the credit account was coming from.
I haven't been able to unlink them, I have tried.
I don’t think I can ‘close’ the regular PayPal
account whilst I owe money to PayPal credit.
My question is, are PayPal credit able to take the money another way if the DD fails? (i.e. using the bank account/card details as mentioned).
Thanks in advance.

No, as that would be theft wouldn`t it.

I had a similar issue. They didnt take any payment from the linked cards, but they did put restrictions on the account meaning I couldnt add or remove any new cards or bank accounts. I dont think they stopped my ability to use the account all together but cant be sure. I ended up just setting up a new account under a different email address.1

@jamiegutz
Thanks Jamie. I did in the end manage to remove the debit card and bank account. I had to have something there, so I linked one of the credit cards I won't be paying.0 -
When i started my dmp Paypal froze my non credit account so I couldn't use it. It was a slightly odd arrangement where the payment from Stepchange would be credited to my non credit paypal account, and the next dsy it would be transferred to my credit account. That was a few years ago though.1
