So I totally forgot all about MSE and my old thread (now closed) which is reflected in my spending habits as I now owe around £10,000 again. I know I’ve done it before but I feel like the world is a very different place 11 years on! However no excuses, posting will keep me accountable and I just need to regain focus and get started. I think I’ll need to go back to basics but also remember what those basics are as I appear to have become quite detached from my spending these days. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck on clearing your 5 figure debt, two figures would be much easier.

Good luck squinky! You've done it once before, and while I'm sure it will feel harder this time, I'm also sure you will get through it. Please do keep positing and ask for advice if you need it.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Post on the debt free wannabe pages for help and support, this forum is for bank accounts

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    Thank you tacpot12!

There’s loads of great advice and threads on here so will make myself go through them all.

I have made a packed lunch today and placed an online food shopping order so can’t get derailed in the supermarket. Small steps.

Day two, £200 down today for school wraparound care for next term, luckily this gets topped up 20% by Tax Free Childcare but still feels a lot. Other than that though no additional spending today. I need to make some time to read other diaries for inspiration and do a realistic budget plan.
