The first step has been taken...

Good afternoon to all readers.

I have today, cancelled all of my direct debits as per the advice contained within this wonderful forum.

I had just had enough.

I recently had some unexpected large bills of the veterinary kind.

It has also been necessary to acquire a wheelchair accessible vehicle and that coupled with the cost of living, especially the cost of heating oil and coal has driven me to the stage where I cannot worry anymore about how I’m going to pay this or that.

I updated my phone number on all accounts. Just using an old phone I had in a drawer with a free SIM from EE (I won’t be making any calls so it won’t cost anything to receive, apparently).

I deleted my landline number too. Nearly forgot that one...

I changed my email address on all accounts to a gmail address so I won’t bother checking that too frequently.

I shall be putting money into the emergency fund as advised herein.

I suppose I just wait now…see what happens.

You’ve done your SOA so that you won’t need to rely on credit moving forwards from this point?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes, I have done a SOA and calculated pro rata payments for creditors based on what the current balances are (I am aware they will increase as interest is added for the next few months).
I have come up with a figure that I feel I can afford to pay each month. They'll get their money, without interest, over 48 months. When the time is appropriate, I shall make the offer.
I will not need to rely on credit.

Yes, I have commenced putting away the cash I'm not paying to creditors into an EF.
