The digital railcard should have a have an animation / hologram effect on the National Rail logo, which wouldn't be visible in a screenshot.

Some train operators do now scan digital railcards too, so it's not always just a visual inspection.

If you were able to display a screenshot or a printed version it would open the floodgates to people manipulating the holder's photo etc and multiple people using one railcard.

You are right - the National Rail logo is animated. I would guess it's probably an animated GIF that could easily be incorporated into a faked railcard stored on a phone.

Perhaps the only option is to buy a cheap & nasty used phone just for the Trainline app.

Perhaps weigh that up against spending £30 on a new plastic or paper railcard so you can operate without a phone whilst travelling?  Depending on how long is left on the validity of your Trainline railcard, the effective cost may be even less.

My railcard is valid until Feb 25.
I made the mistake of buying a three year digital card because of an MSE / Trainline 'special offer'.
This was despite getting screwed on the previous one because of the pandemic.
It was hardly used during the 3 year validity period. There was no refund or extension.
You live and learn. I won't be buying another.
