Good morning all from a damp Mehefinland
Overnight rain, just saved me a job this morning and it's going to be a busy day.
The visit to the Funeral Director is this morning to get the wheels turning there.
Finally managed to get the bereavement officer at the horsepital after loads of phonecalls, message leaving etc. Started at 0900 and by 1500 was getting desperate as DS has limited time here and wants to see his Mum. So I rang their switchboard, explaining the situation, and they really pulled the stops out!! The operator rang around various places and tracked him down for me. Upshot is that we have a viewing appointment this afternoon at 1400. I must admit, it is not something I am looking forward to and I suspect it will be upsetting for us both, but needs must as they say.
As we are going for a humanist service we need to think about what music etc we want. The one track that Dawn would always turn the radio up for was T.Rex Jeepster so I need to think how to fit it in. A chat with a celebrant needed for that. Have some other ideas I/we wish to incorporate but have time to sort that.
We have decided on a no black, no flowers, donation to cancer charity approach. It always seems such a waste when you attend a crematoria and see loads of flowers from various services just going to be composted or dumped. Dawn habitually wore black and I just don't want it at her funeral.
A good friend who lived next door to a pre-me Dawn rang to give some advice. She was a registrar, now retired, where we have to go later, but more importantly in this case a church warden.
She advised me that there was more than sufficient room in the grave plot of her Mum and Grandmother, to enable an interment of the ashes at some point. It is a little village cemetery overlooking the sea, and is a lovely peaceful spot. I was so glad of her input as it had been bothering me a little, albeit in the back of my mind.
Anyway, its brightening up a little now and hopefully will be a dry day. The exodus of holiday makers from the local airport has been underway for a while, so its probably nearly time to get up!!
Hugs and spoons as always.
