PRA Group - How to respond?

Options
Hi, I received the attached text from PRA Group. After quick search I realise they are a debt agency.  But this is the first I have heard about it as I have no debts (that I am aware of!!)

Another thing to point out is that I received this not on my main mobile number that I have used for years, but on an O2 PAYG mobile number that I have recently activated for a spare phone. Old debt from reissued mobile number?

Can anyone advise me what to do next please? Tia, Jason

can you repost and blank out your mobile number or is that PRAs number

have you checked your credit report for any debts or closed accounts

do not  log on to their site or call them or write to them admitting the debt, you may have to send a provit letter
Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

  • hi, that’s their number. There’s nothing showing on the credit apps I use Experian and ClearScore although I don’t subscribe to their more detailed service. Any recommendation how to check for any issues? But I am unaware of anything outstanding. It is strange though that they have sent the text to a pay mobile number that I have only just activated within last 2 or 3 weeks.

my guess is they have sent it to the wrong mobile number - check with your bank to ensure there are no payments for PRA and ignore, or respond to the text saying - wrong number

Recycled phone number most likely, I find the delete button to be most useful in situations like this.
