I need some advice please. I reported to my manager that I’ve been experiencing some issues at work on 9 May, and was referred to occupational health and their advice was I needed to change my role as soon as possible. I have a new role to go to and someone has been appointed to my old role. Now been told I can’t move until another person is appointed and no idea how long that will be. And all the while still experiencing stress symptoms. Anyone any suggestions of what I can do, please?

Speak to your GP. If your current post is causing you issues and your employer can't facilitate a move then you need to be away from that environment. The problem is your employers, not yours.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid2

OH should have advised your employer to do a stress risk assessment whether you plan to move to a new role or not.So I would ask them to do that and it may be that some adjustments can be put in place while you wait to remove some of the stress? Also speak to your GP; and does your employer offer any support in terms of talking therapy for employees?I had a long period of stress so I know what it’s like. Make sure you look after yourself where you can outside of work; eat well, get active and perhaps try some of the mindfulness/breathing resources out there- I found headspace really useful.Debt free as of 2 October 2009

OP is there any possibility of reduced workload or temporary amendment of duties that can be discussed? Are you in a union who may be able to intervene?

The new post is there and ready for me to walk into. My current post has been filled, just waiting for the notice period for her to start. The issue I have is now being told I can’t move across until the second post has been filled, which hasn’t been put out to advert yet!!!There is no possibility of a reduced workload, actually the workload will increase next months as I will be the only one on post!!1

The alternative role has already been agreed by the employer. It is now up to them to manage the transition, which they appear to be doing poorly.
