Second Job Taxed at Basic Rate - When can this tax be claimed back?

Options
My Daughter is a lifeguard and has casual work at 2 local swimming pools.

She recently received her first payslip for the second job and was taxed at 20% on her earnings.  Her payslip had tax code BR / 0 which would appear to mean that her second job is automatically taxed at 20%.

As a student working part time her earnings will not exceed the basic rate in tax year 24/25.

My question is therefore how she goes about getting that tax back now and preventing the 20% tax deduction going forward?  Can her second employer change her tax code so as not to deduct tax?  Or will she have to wait until after the tax year and submit a tax return?

Thanks you.

She can access her online personal tax account on gov.uk and update the projected income from each employer, which should result in the relevant PAYE codings being updated and the overpaid tax will then be unwound in subsequent months.

Only HMRC can change her code number

But what @eskbanker has suggested would prompt a tax code recalculation so if the estimated earnings at the existing job were say £4,000 then some of the spare tax code allowances would be automatically allocated to the new job.

Say the estimated earnings at the new job were £2,000 then tax codes 1057L and 200T would probably be issued.
