    You should look at the possibility of Flexible Retirement if you want to take your pension and stay in your job, although there are rules around  this https://www.yourpensionservice.org.uk/media/1073/retirement.pdf

    Only applies if OP is still employed in Local Government - but even then wouldn't affect payment of deferred benefits.

    I missed the bit about them not being active in LGPS now.
    When we’re at it Silvertabby, can I please double check your understanding re taking AVC tax free. Does this work for flexible retirement as well? I assume it would at the point of taking main benefits.
