Treehouse wood help needed

I want to build a treehouse for the kids, I don't know what wood to use for it, I was planning on using 3" pressure treated wood for the supports (its only attached by one end to a tree) and some sort of thin planks for the walls.
But after reading about the chemicals on pressure treated wood, I don't really want the kids playing with it. Your supposed to wear gloves when you touch it apparently....

So any ideas would be gratefully received. Do I use untreated wood and then treat it with something greener and healther for the kids?
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Comments

  • I would have thought that as it is off the ground, using untreated wood and painting with a waxed based paint would mean it would last long enough. Alternatively use treated wood and clad the inside with untreaded or just use treated for the main supports and use untreated for the rest.
