Do you mean how MUCH you're paid relative to peers or HOW you're paid, i.e. by direct debit, cheque, cash? If the former, you could ask colleagues what they are paid but most employers frown on this because it creates dissatisfaction among the workforce. And remember, there are a multitude of perfectly legal reasons why two people doing the same job may be paid different amounts. You have no right to know what those reasons are, unless the colleague themselves choose to tell you. If you're wanting to know how your colleagues physically receive their pay, what does it matter, as long as you receive your pay as agreed?northernlass29876 said:As per the subject topic: Is there any way to find out how you're being paid relative to one's peers?0 -

Tell them what you are getting and ask if they care to comment.

depends on the job sector NHS is relatively easy to find out probably the same with a lot of other public sector organisations -- otherwise apart from asking - no mechanism and arguably no right to knownorthernlass29876 said:As per the subject topic: Is there any way to find out how you're being paid relative to one's peers?0 -

You ask them, but you have no way of knowing if they are telling the truth or lying. Some companies are not happy with staff discussing salary, others have published pay scales for grades/job families. Even if they are published it doesn't guarantee that people aren't out of the band plus you've no idea where your colleagues are in the scale.northernlass29876 said:As per the subject topic: Is there any way to find out how you're being paid relative to one's peers?
In my first proper job I was a "Technical/Professional 2" in Strategy the pay scale was £35,000 to £60,000 but my salary was £25,000. Next step up was a "Manager 1" which was £45,000 to £80,000, when I made the step was on £40,000 but had TP2s on £55,000 reporting to me and complaining about their salary.0
