Recommendations please buying a European sized 140 x 200 pocket sprung bed

Options
I have an Ikea European sized bed 140 x 200mm. Unfortunately my mattress (inherited) is a standard UK double so space around the edges. I have now decided to buy a new mattress for it. Ikea no longer do a pocket sprung EC size so I have to look elsewhere. Can anyone recommend an online company they have used to purchase this size bed? I'm happy to spend a decent amount but worried about not being able try it out. I know there are guarantees but it would be a faff to return it.

What mattress shops do you have near you?  Like you, I was reluctant to buy without trying out so went to a shop and while they didn't have the size I wanted in stock, but had the model to try and then order the size I wanted.  You can often check online which models are available in that size.

Assuming that the mattress is in good nick, wouldn't it be better to buy a new bedstead?. Bed bases are cheaper than quality mattresses, last longer and there is more choice with standard size mattresses.  My bedstead is 30 years old and has had four mattresses in that time

The great advantage of a European double is they're a bit wider than a standard UK double (which I now find too narrow). I'd work out which brands offer the European size, then try in-store in a double size.

If you're looking for fitted sheets, the John Lewis extra deep double sheets fit perfectly without needing wrestling.

The beds are also longer so better for taller people. I am loathe to buy a mattress online without trying it and from what I can see a lot of the online mattresses are memory foam which I think might be too warm for me. I think I might have to put this one on the back burner for a while.I have spent a few hours online this morning to find somewhere local (Bristol/Bath) area to try one out in store.

I'm very happy with my iron/metal bed which is years old. I will leave it for a bit and sort it out at a later date.
