Intrum Settlement Offer

Hi,

I am looking for advice/information on how to deal with the Intrum settlement offer of writing off 65% of the balance. I am not in a position to pay the 35% but I could pay 20%, the amounts are as follows:

Balance £5796.15
Intrum Offer: £2028.66
I can pay: £1150.00

The debt is from 2014, defaulted 2015, and is no longer on my credit file. I’m currently paying 0 towards it, I was paying £5 per month up until 18 months ago, I had to stop paying due to switching jobs they gave me a 3 month grace period, they never contacted me again to set up new payment plan and I had forgotten about it until they sent me the settlement offer this month.

It is the final of the defaulted debts from this time period, so I would ideally want to just clear it off but I can’t afford the £2k, I am due to get a £1150 work bonus (after tax) so I could use this.

Should I call Intrum to negotiate the settlement offer or do this over email/in writing? Also would the F&F settlement impact my credit file in any way if the default is no longer on there?

TIA

The Intrum Offer would they not accept payments say split over a time.

Offers i have had allow toy to make payment over a set period.
I have Dyslexia which is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling so some post may not make sense.

If she only has that amount of money, giving her slightly longer isn't going to help?

Try sending a CCA request first before you start any negotiations.

You might get lucky and find the whole lot is unenforceable.
