Cost of means testing State Pension £3b/year
😳
On a serious note, I assume that would be for the links to HMRC and people's income, plus staff, plus significant computer system requirements, etc. etc. But what is also telling is that it would only save £2bn. Given that the state pension currently costs something like £120bn, that means fewer than 2% would be affected, and that would potentially be the High Net-Worth population who really wouldn't even notice an extra £12k per year, lol......UK newspapers have done the same for years!Come to think of it, so have politicians.......1 -

For the last couple of weeks my phone has sent me notifications about possible means-testing of pensions a couple of times a day. These send you to places like the Daily Express, Daily Mail and other right-wing sites. Then you read the article among dozens of ads only to find at the end that even they say it's unlikely to happen under any government as it would be so difficult to administer and of course highly unpopular. Clickbait pure and simple.2
