I hope you aren't a Maths teacher, LOL

You just divide it by the number of weeks, and then divide the result by the number of hours.

40 weeks x 37 hours gives the total amount of hours then divide the salary by that.

If the £32k was a full time equivalent salary (I.e. for 52 weeks) then the hourly pay would be £16.70 as you only get paid 40 of the 52 weeks

Multiply 37 x 40 to get the total hours worked in a year = 1480

Divide your total pay (£32134) by the total number of hours (1480) to get £21.71 per hour.

I assume £32134 is your total salary before tax, NI and pension contributions are deducted?

If you actually work 37 hours a week for 40 weeks, your hourly rate is not as simple as the calculations proposed above.  You get holiday too, do you not?

Are there any staff who are considered full-time (admin, grounds/gardening staff perhaps)?  If so, how much holiday do they get?

What about holidays - are those included in the 'working 40 weeks'?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

The majority of our term time only staff are actually paid for 46+ weeks so you might need to divide by similar, although that's based on a 39 week year. A 40 week year from memory (have no one on a 40 week contract) is paid possibly 48.64 weeks. But each council has different rates and weeks paid etc so best to just ask your HR person.
