Many years ago I had broadband with a cable company I want to say NTL?

I had to leave and sell my flat due to health reasons during a fixed contract period, I cancelled the line and asked for a final bill to be posted to my new address as I didn't have Internet access.

It never arrived. I was chased for an outstanding balance a few months later by phone. I replied that I never received a final bill.

They replied that they had emailed it to me at my ntl email address. They then confirmed my account did say 'PLEASE POST FINAL BILL AS THEY NO LONGER HAVE INTERNET ACCESS'.   D'oh!

The request was repeated but nothing came.

I was chased again (repeat above paragraph). That was nearly 20 years ago.

You can't make it up.
