I’m facing an issue with a Hunter report stating that my documents were “altered.” I’ve tried to get more information from the principality about which documents are in question. However, when I called them, they directed me back to my broker. When I contacted my broker, they said they couldn’t help any further and that I should go back to the principality.

I’m caught in a loop and don’t know how to proceed to get the specific details on the altered documents. Has anyone experienced a similar situation or can offer advice on how to resolve this?

Any suggestions on how to get clear answers from either the broker or the principality would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Also want to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart the people in this forum are simply amazing.

You could ask Principality to provide you copies of documents they were provided? You can then check if they have been altered from what you provided?

Recover a letter in the post today from TSB

Our records show that on 6 June 2024, you started a new purchase mortgage application. Your mortgage broker was Miss xxxxxx from xxxxxx Financial Services Ltd.

On 18 June your application was declined as we couldn't verify the application details given to us. I am unable to go into anymore details about why the application was declined and I am unable to remove the National Hunter's markers.

I empathise this has caused you a lot of health, stress and inconvenience issues. However, I am unable to be more specific about why the markers were added to your credit file.

I appreciate this is not the outcome you wanted, but I hope I have explained the reasons for my decision.

It is important I've resolved your complaint fairly.

I can look again at your complaint if you think I misunderstood it, or you forgot to give me important information, please call me on the above number or email me at CustomerRelations@tsb.co.uk

Is it worth even giving them a call? I feel we are good honest people and I’ve worked hard my entire life and putting is on a list where nobody will touch us for an error which they deem as fraud is the worst feeling.

If you do not call them, nothing will happen.
If you call them, something might happen.

What have you got to lose?

I feel like this is my one and only shot, any advice before I make the call? Thanks.

Just be open and upfront with them, be nice.
Having worked in call centres and offices, you get far more being nice than you do shouting and screaming.

In all honesty I dont think you will get anywhere. But you might get a bit more meat on the bones to help with a future application elsewhere which could be useful.

     Why make the offer. Shocking.

Because it says "call if you think I misunderstood the complaint" - which they didn't - "or if you forgot to give me important information" - which the OP didn't.

It doesn't say "call if you want a chat and I might let some extra stuff slip".

The complaint handling has done nothing wrong here.

I would subject access request the lender
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
