I had a Nana too!! Even more unusual. Wonder if it’s a Scottish thing. My mum was Granny as we all felt there was only one Nana. Wonder what I might be one day!!

My parents were Grandma & Grandpa, my sons' dad's parents were Nana & Grandad. I love Papa, it is a lovely name for an elderly gentleman.
I second putting your gifted money into your personal pot, and either put it towards your wedding ring (though I'm struggling with why you're buying this yourself) or keep it until you see something that will always remind you of your Papa.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hey, sorry only just caught up! I have all the same struggles as you, with the house and food etc. My house is clean and tidy ish but don’t look at the skirting boards or the fridge. I’d love to have a cleaner, my friend has one that does a couple
of hours a week and frees her up so much time. But it’s a cost thing and that £160 a month for me, I just couldn’t justify.
your cooking from scratch is enviable. As you know I’ve been looking at doing the same. But couldn’t bring myself to make wraps and bagels, most other things are now home made so I’ve decided to let this be one of the few UPF we now eat.
Its hard as we’re all trying to do the best for our families whilst wearing ourselves pretty thin!
maybe let a couple of things be more convenient for me, maybe spent the extra couple of £ on wraps if it frees you up half an hour, that £3 is actually well spent.I always think you do such an amazing job, but you must be knackered!2 -
@Floss I’m buying it myself because I lost the original myself through my own idiocy. I don’t mind this. Red is now on wedding ring 3 and has lost this one too and he buys his replacements himself so he’ll be doing that too (he didn’t lose all three rings, one got too small and couldn’t be resized). But his get cheaper every time and he now buys wooden rings 😂😂 whereas I’m determined I want to replace it with the exact same one as it’s in a set with my beautiful engagement ring so they won’t look right together otherwise. It’s platinum + diamond so quite expensive (£850).Tbh when I originally lost it I was going to buy it from the joint budget but we are now four years later!!! And I’ve never prioritised it in the joint budget enough to save for it. I’d gotten most of it saved this time by doing it myself from my own money. I’d just rather spend the joint budget on doing stuff as a family.(In case you are all thinking I’m hard done by and deprived, Red does not personally care if my wedding ring comes from my joint budget. It was me who decided that as the joint budget has no spare £ anyway and I do, to save for it myself).Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

If your engagement ring is also expensive I would think about adding it nowMFW 2025 #50: £1139.75/£600007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

I was about to say that I would have claimed on my insurance, and have done that when I lost a tennis bracelet I bought with some of the money inherited from my mum.
When you do replace it, ensure you have insurance cover for it. Before my divorce, I wore £5k worth of 18ct & diamond engagement, wedding & eternity (🙄) rings that were always covered.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Our insurance excess is £1k so no point adding a £850 ring, but my engagement ring is on it as it’s worth £3kish.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
