Help son lost job and has 8k debt

Really need some advice on personal loan 4k, credit card 3k, overdraft 1k

would he best to go bankrupt or is there any other options 

recently split with partner mortgage in her name, he is currently staying with me and know will be for sometime

sorry I don’t really know what the best solution is. Obviously will go too the bank and his actively looking for work to no avail

Going bankrupt for £8K would be overkill in the extreme.  It is a relatively small sum and the consequences of bankruptcy will impact his life for many years to come.  There are other debt solutions.  He needs to seek some proper advice.

No-one goes bankrupt for 8k, even if they have no prospect of things improving.

He needs to claim UC. He will have to convince them that he is not living as a couple.

Get his income paid into a new account unconnected to his debts

And walk away from the overdraft for now.

He can explain to the three creditors what is going on and that there will be no payment while he is unemployed.

Then he can concentrate on the important things like finding a job and getting his own place rather than worrying about nonpriority debts

Debt 'solutions' can be looked at when the situation is stable
