Advice Please; Intrum/Resolvecall

Somewhere back around 2000, I took out a bank loan which I ended up defaulting on and not repaying the full amount. There were various letters for a few years chasing this which might have resumed in a CCJ but I honestly don't recall. Truth be told as I hadn't heard anything in a number of years I had considered that this had in essence been written off.
Today however I received a letter from a company called Intrum (dated 10/7) saying that as I have not contacted them about a "suitable repayment option for my account", my account will now be managed by a company called Resolve all.
This letter also contained a second letter, this time from Resolvecall, also dated 10/7 and threatens me with a "personal visit to your home to assist you in making contact with one of our representatives."
Now given that these letters were both dated 8 days ago and only arrived today, am I to expect a thud in the door and where exactly do I stand with this? There is no mention of any court order or judgement and there is nothing to reflect this on my credit report. If they do turn up at the door what powers do they have, do I have to open the door or engage with them or can they force entry and remove goods?
What is the best way for me to proceed here please and it's there a way for me to check if I have an outstanding CCJ that might not be showing on my credit report?

Resolvecall are not bailiffs and have no rights whatsoever. Treat them as you would a political campaigner or Jehovah's Witness (sorry JWs but you do do a lot of cold calling)
A simple 'sorry, not interested' is enough.
You won't see any record of a ccj more than six years old. If you never received a court claim, you never had a ccj.
They are completely out of time
You can send a prove-it letter if you want to engage , or just treat with contempt and ignore.1 -
Intrum buy shed loads in of very old debt, pick through it and send out letters hoping people don't know their rights. Resolvecall are just freelancers with the same power as next door's cat who are paid by case.
Check your credit records in case, otherwise ignore. If Resolvecall turn up, remind them they have no power, to remove themselves and not return. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing2 -
Intrum/Resolvecall pop up on this forum more regularly than I do lol.
Intrum is a debt purchasing company, who have engaged Resolvecall, a debt collector, to collect the debt for them.
Non of them have any more power than next doors cat, or indeed Jehovah`s Witness.
The debt is clearly statute barred, or in the case of a CCJ ever having being granted, unenforceable.
My thoughts echo the same as fatbelly and RAS, if you want to put a stop to it all either the prove-it letter or statute barred letter will suffice, sent to Resolvecall as they will drop the account straight back to Intrum faster than Jeremy Clarkson can plough a field.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. My next door's cat is scary, certainly much more scary than resolveacall.
To fully illustrate this I here present two videos, first is one on how to deal with them using humour and the second shows a woman taking her kid to school and doing a debt call on the way, so scaryhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENojBfwErzk
try not to laughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxrE5L3VCuY
Never let anyone in
Never engage
Never pay
Never acknowledge
Personally I never engage, I did get a video doorbell so I could see them squirm but for some reason they booger off now, some do an about turn that would make a drill instructor proud.0 -
To be fair to these "collection agents", they are mostly folk who do this part time, for example, working mothers, single parents etc, these jobs are advertised in local papers and online on mums net for example.
Whilst I don`t approve of the work they do, as some may enjoy their jobs way more than others, there reasons for doing it will be many and varied, most do it because they need an income, so its not really the people that knock on the door that I have an issue with, its the faceless corporate entity behind them that employs such scare tactics and makes all the money, those are the individuals I have issues with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I think you have to distinguish between bailiffs court and private, and debt collector agents.
The latter seemed to disappear for a few years, probably because they were so ineffective. But recently Resolvecall have revisited that gap in the market. It's a !!!!!! job and most people won't do it for long. They seem happy to leave a letter so my advice is to let them do it and not to engage. Maybe with the price of postage, hand delivering is becoming a thing again. I do hope they are not paid by results.
As for bailiffs, I have never had a problem with a court bailiff, and as for the private ones, we'll leave it for another thread1 -
' Full training provided remotely' So no one from the company dare get off their rear end and go and knock on a door with the trainee. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2
