Back dated default

In hope more than expectation, if a default is backdated should the interest/charges applied since the revised default date be removed?

Very good question, I would say if you don`t ask, you don`t get.

Hi Sourcrates, have you ever heard of it being removed? Through an FOS complaint I should be getting the default backdated to Oct 18 so will soon drop off but would also be nice for the balance to be significantly reduced

In certain cases yes, but it won`t always be automatic.

On the FOS complaint form it asks you "what do you want the business to do to put things right"?

So you have to include refund of interest and charges for the period covered by the delayed date of default, within that box on the form, or if already submitted, make sure they add that to your complaint.

I had some interest refunded as well as a default removed, but the FOS decision outlined everything that should be done and the lender just followed that.

If it is backdated then it will soon be unenforceable, so not just a reduction but all of it GONE.

I find if you make any attempt to pay anything you are considered weak and they will deem you low hanging fruit.
