Not exactly a pantry item, but I recently finished a bottle of Amaretto disaronno which had the price label on it in Deutsche Marks! certainly pre 2002. Of course it was ... fine.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Fortunately we did a thorough cull when our kitchen was redone in January. A bottle of grape juice dated 1963. Also have a couple from 1994 which I'm saving for a rainy day.

I binned the last bit of a bottle of Lea & Perrins from 2013 the other day. I still have an unopened one from 2019 though 😊2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Asked my wife and she produced a BBE MAY 03: a pack of (then) pretty hot chillies... have cooled down considerably
and still are used occasionally.

I was just being nosey. I don't have anything past its Best Before or Use By date. The freezer however, needs a thorough clear out. I still have a shoulder of venison from 2020, (too big for fridge or oven)but I wouldn't eat ten year old strawberries, unlike my mother.0

I have a tin of chicken curry whose BB is something like 1975, so several years before I was born. Was given to me as part of a ration pack in the mid 90s for a CCF exercise. Others did eat theirs and by all accounts it was fine but kept mine. The other contents of the pack had a similar date (biscuits brown, biscuits fruit, porridge etc) and were ok to eat at 20 years beyond the BB date.
Has travelled with me since for emergency use. The tin is in good condition, not bloated at all etc and so in principle the content is still fine.1
