IPA's and excess
Hi,
I'm kinda new to bankruptcy, and was just wondering how much is a reasonable amount to claim for food, fuel etc. I understand it's to do with Attatchements of earnings, and Payment of judgements figures, but I was wondering what the thresholds were for these figures. My point is I can (and have) survived on eating rice with food outgoings of £15.00 per week, but I'm not sure I want to.
Is there a link to the full figures, so I can work out what I'm entitled to?

You can use this as a guide but depending on your OR they can be a bit more generous in some areas

Here are a couple of links to look at. But if you can tell us a little bit more about your situation ie: married/partner, kids, working etc and pop up your I&E then we can tell you about other things you may not have thought of.

Hi,
I'm back living with parents now.
my net income is £1400
rent = 400
housekeeping = 185
telephone = 20
travel (via borrowing fathers car) = 260
clothing = 50
maintenance (to ex for 2 children) = 400
council tax = 20
other = 40
total 1375
the OR has asked for £90 p.m. making my available income £180 by their stats.
Any thoughts on how I can claim back some more, their doesn't seem to be much going spare here, such as money for holidays, and car payments etc.0 -

Can I ask Travel via your fathers car, how do the costs break down? Is that just petrol? Or does that include tax, maintenance, mot?
What has the OR reduced/disallowed to get his amount?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I don't mean to be rude but I wonder if the OR believes that you're paying over £600 per month to live in your parents' home?0

That thought had crossed my mind too ONW.
Appier what has the OR said to you?BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
The OR didn't break down what costs he had allocated and to where, in the telephone conversation he just advised me that he calculated £180pm was spare at the end, and that £90. would be my IPA figure. I have seen no breakdown of how much or to where the costs have been allocated.
Car credit would be my buying a cheap car of up to £1500 either on a credit plan or saving then buying. Either way I cannot buy a car if all my spare money is going to my IPA.
The motoring costs just include petrol on a very small car. I travel about 400 miles a week.0 -
I must say your expenses are higher than mine and I don't live with my parents (and I live in London - arguably incredibly expensive)!
Not meaning to be rude but is this really an accurate reflection of your situation? I personally would be tempted to just pay the IPA at £90 rather than dispute it and have them go over your finances with a toothcomb, in which case you could be worse off.BCSC Member 70:j

If you are genuinely paying so much to live at your parents' house, what is the point? Surely you could find a house share or something cheaper? Most adults who return to live with their family do it to save money but in your case it seems to be costing more than to live independently. I agree with NekoZombie that your best bet would be to keep your head down and pay up!0
