Yours was more generous in cash, ours was £6k, though the hotel etc would have made it above £8k but a 2 bed house would have been £300k and a 1 bed flat about £175k so we were firmly in renting territoryGrumpy_chap said:

Was the relocation anything to do with the length of service?Grumpy_chap said:I must be the lucky one - after 8 years with my first employer, I got relocated and they gave me a lump sum relocation allowance which was the deposit on my first house.
At 12 years, I got relocated again so moved up the housing ladder.
At 15 years, I got made redundant with enough money to refit the kitchen and bathroom.
Very generous of them indeed.
It did all work out very well, though.
I was on £14.5k
They gave me £8k.
First house was £59,990 - I would not pay more to keep under £60k stamp duty threshold.0 -
We Grumpies can be invaluable in the workforce. We know what we're doing, and we do it well, without any flannel.stuhse said:

We used to have a paid sabbatical after 10 years, but it was phased out a few years after I'd had mine. No long service, but I didn't make it to 25 years anyway: I was planning to retire in a few months and had made no secret of it, but then they offered me redundancy if I went a month earlier!Signature removed for peace of mind2
