DWP refuse my marriage certificate, after husband died

Thanks for replying

No, am not claiming any support services. I got through to the bereavement department when I phoned pensions to double check they knew of my husband's death, because I didn't want to use the Just Once service. (Another issue as they stopped future payments being sent, but said none were due anyway.... Well one did get through and I received a rather severe letter stating I owed it to them so phoned and repaid straight away.)
I was told i needed to send in my marriage certificate because they seemed to think I can claim extra from his pension - really can't remember what they called it. I said but I already receive the full state pension surely am not entitled to anything else? But they seemed to think I was.
Well, I have just received another letter and prepaid envelope to send in my original marriage certificate.
As I said - all certificates are certified copies of the original entry which are all digital nowadays. There is no such thing as an uncertified copy. Nor do you receive a handwritten certified copy on the day - they are all printed and posted to you.
It costs £12.50 per certificate so am loathe for another one to disappear
Am told that once they receive a certificate, it is scanned into the system.
Mine wasn't. If it was wrong surely it should have been noted somewhere as to why and explained to me properly.

It is possible that you are entitled to inherit Additional State Pension from your late husband.

They may be talking about you being able to inherit a part of your husband's Additional State Pension.notanothername said:I was told i needed to send in my marriage certificate because they seemed to think I can claim extra from his pension - really can't remember what they called it. I've just had a look at my marriage certificate - we received it on the day and it is a hand written certified copy. This was in the last five years.notanothername said:Thanks for replying

An uncertified copy would include if someone photocopied a certified copy.
I would ring them again or start the complaints process.0
