Why do the months feel so long and the years so short - both when it comes to overpaying and children growing up! I am meant to be putting some stuff up for sale whilst OH does the ironing this afternoon but I am procrastinating by coming on here and having a sneaky look at the mortgage overpayments spreadsheet instead... But each months payments feel like they take so long to come round. I can't give a May update yet as payment and interest come on mid month so I'm too early. In real life I feel like the only one who wants it gone as quickly as possible and has no ambition to keep working forever, I can't be the only one surely?!

Long time no update but I knew I wouldn't keep up posting but I am determined to keep going... Now at £426.7k. Treated ourselves to a sunny holiday so not as much down as could have been but we need to enjoy the family time too (according to DH - bet you can guess who the saver is and who the spender is round here
). I'm just so excited for it to start with a 3 not a 4 but slowly slowly.
Now making sure we keep cooking at home and reducing food spends as food costs have really shot up and making more stuff at home seems to be the only solution there.2 -
Phew few months with no posts. Now down to £418.5k and that’s just over 20% of the mortgage gone in 3 years. Something to celebrate this Christmas!4

Heading rapidly towards it starting with a 3! Well done.

Bit late but happy new year! 😆🫣 down to £412k this month and this will be the year I get to say the mortgage starts with a 3. So that’s something massive to look forward to this year. I know I’m using this diary as more of a tracker than a diary but there is something satisfying about writing it down. Half term this week and it’s wet so more time to reflect (during the chaos and noise) than normal.

£407k for March if we can stick to budget for the rest of the month. With everything getting more expensive and work shenanigans it’s just spurring me on more…

Thanks! It does feel like a slog when they are so big doesn’t it 🫣

Good news to celebrate this month. Finally we are in the 3’s once this months payment goes out in a few days. It doesn’t quite feel real as because we fixed at a low rate I’m not actually paying off the mortgage but instead saving it up in higher interest accounts to pay off at the end of the fixed period. But yay all the same!! 🥳
