Does this work ?

Before anybody thinks of biting my head off. Has anybody heard of the coconut diet where you drink 3 spoons of coconut oil a day ? You are supposed to loose a lot of weight. Any ideas ?

  • The diet may help you lose weight... I am sure you will be pooping through the eye of a needle while on it.
  • Is that teaspoons or tablespoons?? Oh and where do you buy coconut oil??

  • I have heard similar things about honey and vinegar (seperately - how hideous would they be together!)

Without wanting to get too serious - The only thing I would say is to check the nutritional levels of anything that you are meant to have in quite high doses. I have seen some 'drink x each day' that looks downright dangerous (one that I saw once was trying to get people do drink what amounted to about 9 teaspoons of salt per day which sounds frankly dangerous over a sustained period of time). I can't see this one being dangerous in this way but it is useful to know what you are dealing with eg as it is oil if there are lots of calories in it then if it doesn't work that is lots more calories a day you have to burn off.

(not a health practitioner, but can you tell I work in the health field!! - I hope you don't see the last paragraph as a lecture, I still say give it a go if you want to)

After years of trying every diet going I have, with sadness, decided that for me the only way to do it is 'eat less, exercise more'.

It's a load of rubbish. Like most of these fad diets, as soon as you come off it the weight goes up.

Go see your doctor and get them to book you in with the Dietician. You'll be put on a proper diet that works and is sustainable and it won't cost you anything.
