Which country is your son in?
We don't have bankruptcy here in Scotland. CAB will just give advice about bankruptcy in England & Wales.
If your son is resident in Scotland he needs to talk to CAS (Consumer Advice Scotland) who will advise him about the possibility of sequestration, which is not available in E&W but is more relevant to his circumstances here in Scotland.1 -
MingVase said:Sorry Alderbank - yes sequestration but the CAB in East Lothian is just calling it bankruptcy - maybe to make him understand better. But would you know about the bank acc being frozen for a time? This is worrying as his UC and rent get paid in there.
Its difficult to give a timescale how long it can take to unfreeze....usually AIB can send a letter to the bank saying they have no interest in the bank account HOWEVER its the bank who freezes accounts and in some cases they can decide to close the account if they want to............best to look for a basic account before he goes bankrupt and transfer everything across that way he's no worries about benefits etc
