Resolvecall and unknown debt

Letter received a week ago ( in my maiden name ) for a debt for £2900 I don't know about. It's not on my credit file and my maiden name is linked to my credit file. Is there a way of seeing ALL historic debts? Anyway they also snuck a card through my door today saying they had called. I was sat looking at the door when they did this. I know about the statute barred but what do I do? I hate them coming to my home

Don't ring or email them and don't let anyone in the house. You might send them a letter by snail mail asking them to prove that you owe the debt including needing to see a copy of the credit agreement. They are unlikely to provide anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. You can engage with a prove-it letter or just ignore them.
Not bailiffs so just annoying like the parliamentary candidates who will ignore you in 2 weeks time3 -

You can search Registry Trust for the CCJ at old addresses, then determine how you will deal with it.
I have had 1 CCJ for consumer debt and about 3 non consumer debt, only one non consumer debt escalated to High Court Enforcement (which consumer debt can't do).
Do not engage
Do not let them in
Do not leave a door unlocked
Lock back gate with a padlock if you have a gate
There have been a number of fake energy bills being attributed to former tenants by companies that bought up energy companies. They have done these back door CCJ's when the debt was not valid under OFGEM back billing rules or the debt was because they failed to get a proper read registered.
You can't figure out the best way forward until you know what you are dealing with.
Also bear in mind this debt may be for someone with the same name as you and not even be your debt.

Resolvecall are well known on this forum, they are simply a collection agency, nothing more, no more power than you or I have, ignore them, or send prove-it letter to get rid of them.
(when you send that they typically return the debt to their client).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Possibly just another debt wrongly assigned to you because you have a common name, but why take the chance, sometimes it is an old catalogue debt sold on to debt consolidator.
Look you really can't trust these maggots, their whole game is to exploit things people care about, including their privacy or personal space.
I never engage but you could do a Subject Access Request to their Client not ResolveCall (if you know the client) otherwise just ignore them.
Is there a chance that you were named as a person jointly responsible at a former property? The amount seems high, but if it was a faulty energy company read or similar it is a possibility.
If you do not engage and they return to their client then that client will contact you or appoint a different company, I have seen people on here say debts were passed many times to different companies before there was any reference to what the original debt was for.
Once you know who they allege it is for you can start with a request for a CCA to the owner of the debt (not the debt collector) if they can't reproduce that then the debt can't be enforced.
If they can provide a CCA and it is a debt you recognise but the alleged debt became Statute Barred with no CCJ obtained within the 6 years then again it becomes unenforceable.
If the alleged debt does pop up a CCJ in a former partner or housemates name then again it becomes a matter of whether 6 years have passed.
Resolvecall are nothing to worry about, get a video doorbell and leave them standing there like the morons there are. I particularly like the ones that laugh at them as they do the walk of shame away from the property.

@DisabledDan lol, brilliant, that is exactly how people should deal with Resolvecall and any other doorstep collection agent.
So many people post in utter fear of the threat from such a visit, and this just goes to show they have nothing to fear from it at all, I think they operate using that fear of the unknown to scare folk into making unaffordable payment plans on the doorstep.
We have always said you do not have to engage with them at all, and humour certainly seems to be the best way to effectively deal with such people.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
