My daughter was married to an abusive man that continues to harass her whenever possible.
They have an 11 year old son for which he pays child maintenance.
The child will shortly go into hospital for a month. Shortly after his release he is will go on holiday for three weeks with his mother.
The ex husband says that he will not pay child maintenance for either of these happenings.
Can he do that?

No. Is this by the child maintenance service or a private arrangement? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Wow. So ex husband doesn't have to pay bills when he goes on holiday, hospital etc. What a great world be lives in.
It's another control tactic. If the CM arrangement is a private one it may be time to go through the formal route0 -
Well the amount was determined using the government facility online, although we were never convinced his declared income was truthful. He offset it by paying 35k py into his pension each year, now it is 45k py. But the payment is made from his account to my daughters by direct debit, so I assume that this would be considered as a private arrangement.
