Amazon upped their minimum spend threshold!

I've been visiting Amazon daily for the last week & I'm not a Prime customer. Today I see that they've upped their minimum spend threshold for non-Prime customers to £35 from £25! Was there any warning ANYWHERE that they were going to do this?

Sorry, new here & can't see how to edit my first post - I should have put 'minimum spend for free delivery'.0

I'm not a prime member... but I get mostly everything regardless of price delivered free, pretty much delivered the following day, or day after...... but, I have to pick up from the post office.... no big deal for me as it's 3 minute walk away. If you have a p.o close by.... worth a shot.1

Thanks so much. I'd forgotten I could get free collection from whichever collection point I choose locally saving the £2.99 charge! Sorted it out for a supermarket nearby where I'll be going anyway over the weekend. I do remember now that the last time I chose free collection, Amazon said by 3 days time and it arrived at the supermarket the next day!! Still think raising minimum spend to £35 for free delivery so suddenly is a cheek.0

Hi all, thanks for highlighting this. We've published a news story: Amazon raises minimum spend for free delivery to £35 – here's how to beat it.0

I didn’t think much of it when it went up to £25 - inflation and it had been £20 for absolutely years - but I feel this is a lot less justifiable. Inflation is now going down, they only increased it 14 months ago meaning it is now 75% more than it was less than a year and a half ago.
Books haven’t moved at all, which I always guessed was because books were deemed good for you so they wanted to encourage them. But depending on the book they can be a lot heavier than some of the things they otherwise charge £4.99 on if you only spend £10.
I was going to order something but thankfully it’s dispatched by the seller. There is a cheaper price for Prime Members and they are offering me a week’s prime for 99p but I think I’ll save that in case I need to order something dispatched by Amazon. Very rare that my orders are over £35.0
