Prom Dress Resale

Hi all
My beautiful daughter has somehow convinced me to spend £450 on a prom dress.
Is there an established resale market for “Used once” prom dresses?
If I can get half that money back I would be happy, but I can’t find anything that stands out, just eBay really.
Thanks in advance 😀

Look on your local facebook market place. Wait until this time next year & put it for sale then as this is when people will be looking to buy.1

I’m just going through similar - in our local area on FB Marketplace there seems to be an £80-£100 ceiling - the only exception being the occasional dress from a renowned local dress shop which goes above that (but probably cost more than your £450 figure)
Based on my (limited) research I’d be looking at recouping 25% rather than 50%2 -
Thanks. I was hoping to sell an hour after she got home 😅
At least I’ve got more idea now 👍🏻1 -
Vinted is another possibility.I would be expecting to get 25% back this time next year or maybe you could try at Christmas timeI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. You used to be able to sell 2nd hand prom dresses for several hundred pounds. Then the pandemic came and no proms in 20/21. A lot of the school leavers for 2020 had already bought their prom.dress and then the event didn't take place. Thats why the market has dropped.Too many still unworn dresses in the 2nd hand market. My daughter attended prom in 2019 and what Id get for it now is a lot less than if Id sold it later.

The prom dresses I've seen on don't seem to sell, and those that do have been reduced significantly.
The PTA of our local secondary school have this year had prom dressed donated and they now rent them out for £20 a time, which will have just further diminished the resale value of this year's prom dresses
Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
Make £2024 in 2024...1 -

We stuck to our original plan but one of our friends did pay the £100 for him and his g/friend but can't remember if he went or not.
We had a new headmaster that year and he'd brought in a number of changes (eg introduction of a summer shirt that could be worn without a blazer) that didnt go down so well with the traditionalists.1
