Sick Pay for Part-time Seasonal Workers

I work part-time for a large transport company which only employs me six months of the year. For those six months, I work seven days on, seven off. I have been with the company for nine years. I also have subsidiary jobs, mostly cleaning, which I have to do to supplement my part-time pay.

I'm just coming to the end of a period of seven days off. Throughout which I've been in severe pain and had a fever, from an (assumed) diverticulitis flare-up. I've seen the GP who has given me antibiotics, but the pain has not subsided. I have struggled with my cleaning work and since I can now barely stand, I don't see how I can cope with seven days, on my feet and customer-facing, with The Large Transport Company, which should start tomorrow.

But I'm very concerned that since I am a) seasonal and b) part-time, I won't be entitled to any sick pay. In which case I will somehow have to swallow yet more co-codamol and try to carry on. I can't afford unpaid days.

What is my situation, does anyone know?
