During the pandemic we could not go out.Instead of a free Xmas dinner employees were given pre cash loaded supermarket cards as a Xmas gift.
I found it useful.I do not always carry my credit card as it might get stolen and misplaced. However here is the thing. Sainsbury has a cash expiry of a one paltry one year. Aldi goes up to a more generous 5 years (this was last year and might have changed).
How long does your supermarket offer on pre loaded cards?

A pre loaded gift card can also get lost or stolen and is then well and truly lost, much safer carrying a credit card. Also, Sainsburys is 2 years although I wouldn’t consider 1 year paltry, I would say that’s fair. https://sainsburysgiftcard.co.uk/Sainsburys/ByPost/Argos/ChooseProduct?productGroup=All%20Cards&forcePopulateProductGroupOptions=True#headingSelectAmount

Tend to buy gift cards from somewhere like Cheddar to get the extra few percentage points... Sainsbury's are valid 2 years, Tescos for 5 years, Morrisons 2 years, Waitrose 2 years, Iceland 2 years.miser123 said:During the pandemic we could not go out.Instead of a free Xmas dinner employees were given pre cash loaded supermarket cards as a Xmas gift.
