How did you have an "agreed price for the work" if you never had a quote?
OR, do you mean the work was done and then the tradesperson said it was £2,000 + VAT?
This tradesman then said it's £1600 if you pay in cash (but there'd be no invoice, which I wasn't keen on), or £1860 + VAT.
I planned to go for the second option, but then checked if the tradesman was VAT-registered (as I have with all tradesmen I engage the services of), and the VAT number doesn't check out - hence the thread.
@la531983 - your idea seems like the best so far, but keep them coming if you have the time, everyone (I appreciate the input)!
