Can I find how HMRC has said I owe more Tax?

I am on simple PAYE but HMRC says I have had some extra income last year, about £550. The only thing I can account for is £408 interest. I thought the first £1000 interest wasn't counted.
Can I easily find out where they think this extra £550 has come from?

How is the £550 described?0 -
Your PAYE Income Tax calculation
Estimated tax you owe
We estimate that you have not paid enough Income Tax so far this tax year. You currently owe
£342.20

The £550 amount was on my tax coding notice a while ago....I first thought it must be un-taxed building soc interest, but when I totted it it all up, i am under the £1000 allowance, so I have no idea where they think it has come from!

You are going to have to give more info, what have you actually received? A coding notice? A P800 tax calculation?Richmmm5645 said:The £550 amount was on my tax coding notice a while ago....I first thought it must be un-taxed building soc interest, but when I totted it it all up, i am under the £1000 allowance, so I have no idea where they think it has come from!
What exactly does it say?0 -
I always thought PAYE was taken at source and on Gov.uk I have a number of these that will be taken from my newly received State Pension or Occupational Pensions....Surely my employers(various) are responsible for paying this and reducing my wage slip ???0

You would have been better starting your own thread rather than having 2 discussions going on here.Mustbeananswer?? said:I always thought PAYE was taken at source and on Gov.uk I have a number of these that will be taken from my newly received State Pension or Occupational Pensions....Surely my employers(various) are responsible for paying this and reducing my wage slip ???1 -
Tax cannot be deducted from state pensions. Any additional tax due as a result of receiving it has to be collected at other sources.Mustbeananswer?? said:I always thought PAYE was taken at source and on Gov.uk I have a number of these that will be taken from my newly received State Pension or Occupational Pensions....Surely my employers(various) are responsible for paying this and reducing my wage slip ???0 -
