Tesco Clubcard - Delivery Saver Plan Technical issues

Morning all. Have read posts for years but thought maybe I should contribute a little.

First port of call is what is being termed by Tesco Clubcard as, 'ongoing technical issues' with redeeming points for Delivery Saver Codes. I know there have been numerous comments and articles over time about the 'value' of Clubcard vouchers reducing over the year, most recently from 3x value to 2x value. It was also mentioned last year that the Delivery Saver redemption was dropping to 1x value. Many complained but of course there was nothing to be done and many still continue with the delivery saver plans.

Has the time now come where Tesco have waived goodbye to the use of Clubcard vouchers to pay towards Delivery Saver Plans? Our plan is due for renewal towards the end of July and several weeks back I thought I should look at redeeming vouchers. At the time the page just stated technical issues meaning points could not be redeemed. I thought fair enough, but it has now been several weeks and the issue still appears to be there. Surely such an issue is not likely to be still ongoing after this period of time, so is it instead just the precursor to Tesco removing it completely? Has anyone managed to redeem points towards Delivery Saver Codes recently? Or when was the last time they were successfully redeemed?

I am in the same situation with my plan expiring in early July I’ve always used the vouchers to pay for my plan but seeing the technical issue message every day I try. I’ve not contacted them yet but might try to see if they’ll help.
  • Let everyone know how you get on. I'm starting to wonder if this isn't a case of leave it unavailable for several weeks and see how much fuss is made and how many plans are taken out using 'cash' instead. Hopefully we will hear more  from some people who have renewed or anyone who knows more.

On a practical level, it doesn't really matter if you spend the vouchers on the delivery saver or on food if its a 1-1 conversion. I doubt it's purposely broken - their ts&cs state they can just remove that offer, as they did with the double/triple points redemption. Just spend the £85 in vouchers or whatever on your next shop and spend the cash you would have spent on food on the delivery saver.

No personal experience, as I moved to Sainsbury's when hit with the double whammy of no more double up and no more midweek passes. Voting with your feet is about all you can do!

This is the reply from Tesco. Maybe voting with feet is the way to go. Ocado have a similar plan with M&S quality and Tesco price match.

Thank you for getting in touch today

Delivery Saver Plans using Clubcard vouchers to exchange is currently unavailable due to stock issues with various code values.
We have no update at the moment when this will be available again.
You can choose to pay for the plan every month instead of yearly?

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Thank you

I’ve phoned a few times about this. Each time they say their IT team have run out of codes and are meant to be generating more (not sure how this is taking weeks for a big company like Tescos). I phoned again today and they had just received a memo with an ‘update’ which was that there was no update and they were working on it. They also said they don’t offer monthly plans (which is what I was told when I phoned before). And if I buy a plan and then want to cancel (eg if the codes then become available), I can’t cancel after 14 days. So it’s a gamble as to whether to hold
on and wait or just pay for it (or go elsewhere). Not very helpful, I wish they would just say if they were withdrawing it then you’d know where you stand.

Still not back up, they are treading on thin ice recently with this and their price structuring. They are playing smoke and mirrors with Sainsburys with which items are on 'special offer'. As soon as Aldi start delivering Tesco and Sainsburys will feel it and I hope it's not too long.

Why would Aldi start delivering?  Nobody in the world has managed to make online grocery delivery profitable, so not offering it is a major reason they are able to keep their prices low.
