Surely it depends very much on whether someone retires mortgage free or still with a mortgage to pay off/paying rent? I am planning my retirement. I have a final salary/career average DB pension and will get a significant lump sum. I also have significant savings. My annual pension income is likely to be around £20K but I have no mortgage left. I have never earned over £37 K so the idea of a pension over £40 K is impossible.1
