Hi all. I accepted a new job on Tuesday and they gave me a start date for the 24th i have been mulling on it all week and now deciding to stay in my current job for the time being. I plan on telling the new job on Monday what could i tell them? Has anyone done this before?

And apologise. You might ponder again before deciding not to take the job. Looking at your view of your current employer it's hard to see why you want to stay: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6496959/would-you-leave-a-job-that-you-re-not-happy-in#latest
Could it just be cold feet at doing something new?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!2 -
I’ve done this, it’s awkward and you have to be aware that they may not consider you next time if you apply again, but if you don’t want the job it’s better to say no now then before they’ve trained and onboarded you. However before you make up your mind ask yourself why you are turning down a job you accepted three days ago. Did you have misgivings during the interview? Do you think you would get a better job elsewhere? Are you not excited about the role? These are all valid reasons. However if it’s because you’re worried about the change, or whether you’ll like your new colleagues as much as your current ones then you are in the territory of making a decision based on fear and you might regret that later0

Why wait until Monday? The sooner you tell them the more chance they have to offer the job to another person who was shortlisted. My wife was in a similar position. She was offered and accepted a job but a couple of days later was offered a job which she had interviewed for a few weeks earlier and assumed she hadn't got. That was her preferred option so she called the other company immediately. They were disappointed but appreciated being informed quickly.Edited to add - just realised this is the first chance you have after the weekend. I blame being retired and every day being the same.0
