I read on a similar forum that MS will be reducing the price of the Xbox by £50 across the range, this is likely to take place end of January. Depends if you can hold on until then
.
Not sure which 360 you want, Gamestation have really competitive deals at the moment.
You could get a price & then go to your local PC World & get them to match it -10% :beer:0 -
I enjoy playing online, so I'd be after the mid-range system as I believe the core/arcade version does not allow you to play online or save games..... I the Full System is £249.50 at Argos, and if we order vouchers from our bank/CC we can get 10% off.0

Amazon is selling the console for 229.99. I also saw Game.co.uk selling the premium version + extra controller+ three games (can't remember which ones though) for 279.99.0

I think I will wait until nearer the end of the month and see if the £30 off that has been mentioned actually comes to fruition.
Cheers

My hubby has been after one for ages and the cheapest we have seen with a good game was at blockbuster. You can view the deals online, but only buy instore.0

the 360 is very very good, i have an elite and a ps360. The xbox is 100 times better online that the ps3 but i really got the ps3 to be used as a blu-ray player and so i could play my nephew online as he got the ps3 for christmas.
if you want an !!! kickin on forza2, cod4 or graw2 add me - boscat
ps. according to my bro who is a manager at a high street gaming store and a geek, microsoft will be releasing a new 360 before christmas 2008 along with sony and their new ps30 -
Yet another pair of consoles.... surely this can't be true.... can it? Who knows plenty of folk will pay for them, and the companies are moneygrabbing-so-and-so's.. it could well be true...0

I think the new consoles will be "uprgraded" versions of the current generation - not a new generation, so games etc will still all be good, so don't panic.
And OP - if you buy the arcade console (£189.99 on play.com) you can play games online - you just need to buy a gold subscription (which you need to buy in any case to play online...it's about £35/year) and you'll get a 256mb memory card included which should be enough for a fair few game saves.
That said, I'd personally recommend you get a Pro or Elite console with hard disk anyway - then you have plenty of space not only for game saves, but for music, downloaded games, downloadable content etc etc.0 -
Thanks for the advice.
The Pro is the one I would go for. I have the standard XBOX at the moment and play a lot online (Hazelbank is my gamertag). Is the subscription of Live transferable to a 360 account if I start playing online with the 360? My present subscription was updated in December.... I didn't keep track of it as other things were happening around me, and so it was updated automatically.0 -
I traded in my ps2 (the original not slimiline one) with all games, controllers etc and got £150 off a Xbox360 premium which cost me £100.
Many of the games i traded in were bought off ebay for a quid. Trade in value for most of those games was closer to £5.
Does anyone know where I can get a list of trade-in values of console games for shops like 'game' etc???0
