Slow cooker or bread maker?

  • As a veggie I'd def vote for breadmaker. Everything from the slow cooker comes out as vegetable mush sadly :( But the breadmaker is great.

As pink-winged said though it depends on your lifestyle. Personally I eat a good bit of bread and am probably less of a 'stew' person. But if you're more of a stew person then go with the SC :)

The only other SC thing to watch out for is to be sure and get the appropriate size. I got a huge one and there's only two of us and it needs to be three quarters full to use it so I get about 5 days meals from one cook up :) This is way way too much.

I'd say get both - but forget any spend, you'll get them both on freecycle if you've a little patience!

I got both mine within 2 weeks - 1 was offered, 1 was a response to my 'wanted' post, both were as good as new.

Having read this thread just reserved a slow cooker for collection tomorrow at Argos for £16.64 it's Morphy Richards currently £8 off :) Look forward to using it later in the week, think Sausage Casserole will be the first thing to try.
  • Another vote here for the slow cooker. Have now had mine for exactly a year and can't believe I did without it before.

It has dramatically changed our eating habits for the better.

However, as a still-in-training-OSer I'm wondering whether 2008 could be the year of the breadmaker. Am off to investigate further! :p

p.s. tt07 - that Morphy Richards one is the one I have. I love it....

Tartan Mum thanks for the vote on the Morphy, we have a Panasonic Bread Maker and it really has been excellent over the last year, it does make great bread I prefer the full length programs the fast bake program to me gives a bit of a funny taste compared to full length. But I do enjoy the bread especially the granary flour based stuff we make.
