    I have no idea! :rotfl:

Basically I need a/some formulas to calculate a profit but it will vary depending on the different options in a drop down menu! :rotfl:

Are you sure it doesn't already exist - quite a few around already, especially over at rpoints. Ones that I use are Matcher and Multiback.
  • ICT teacher here willing to help with drop down boxes - but as has been said, linking formulae to drop down boxes can't really be done... not well... But you can use a lookup table or an IF test to base results on certain criteria.. I'd need more info but if I can help I will - PM me if you do :)

    Eh? :rotfl:

As you can see I'm clueless! If GP can't sort it I'll drop you a line. Thank you. :)
  • I'm no whizz, but I've found the help tutorials on Excel really good. It may take a bit of playing with, but you can usually figure out how to get what you want in the end... the biggest problem I had was getting one worksheet to flow into the next, but after a bit of tinkering, it worked out.
If you post an example of the kind of thing you're looking for, someone would make a fair stab at it, I'll bet (groan).

I'm sure you can have another (hidden) cell change depending on the value in the drop down box, and then base the formula on that (rather than the drop down box itself)

At least I think that's how I've gotten around it in the past....

Yep that's true - the answers in the drop down would probably be in hidden cells anyway so you could do it that way I think.. depends what's needed - you sound like you can suss it but keep me in reserve if you think you need me :D

You get formulae in hidden cells to only "turn themselves on" if the value in the drop down box is "their value". The non-hidden cell just sums all of the hidden cell formulae. Since there is only ever one active at once, it just works.
