Brighthouse/caversham

Hi,

I am trying to sort out my finances now I am sober after 11 years in addiction - I’ve successfully contacted and arranged payment plans with 2 out of the 3 accounts which are on my credit file - however I am struggling to find one listed as ‘Brighthouse/Caversham Finance’ for £452.

I know I had an outstanding debt of £350 with bright house so was confused at the amount - I contacted ACI as that’s what the internet suggested. ACI then confirmed that the account for £350 had been closed.

I'm at a loss as to what this amount for £452 could be for with Brighthouse and also as to how I sort this out and find out how to pay it off?

Thanks in advance.

2018 but it is showing on my credit file as in default, would that be having a negative effect on my score?

When in 2018?  It should drop off your credit file after 6 years of no contact and should be (I believe) statute barred.

Credit score is immaterial as you're the only one that sees it.  It's what's on your actual credit history that the banks etc look at.

Caversham Finance (trading as Brighthouse) went bust, they wrote off a large number of debts on their loan book, the rest were sold to a debt purchasing company, who have re-sold them to, I believe Perch Capital of which UCI are a partner company.

Its highly likely your debt was one of those written off, as you are not being chased for the debt, the whole entry on your credit file will disappear on the 6th anniversary of the date of default, that will be later this year, so there`s nothing to do, time will remove it, and you don`t have to pay the debt.

I last paid in December of 2018 so would that mean it drops off my file at the end of the year, providing I make no contact with them?

Thats interesting to know about your credit score - I guess it’s a tool to ‘help’ people to understand the information on their file?

So what would you say is essential for me to do in order to sort out my credit file? I have a very very bad score as it stands - however, I recently had a CCJ applied in regards to amigo loans removed once they assessed my claim as part of their claim scheme; I’ve came to arrangements with the two creditors to pay back what I owe and the first payments are due to be made this month.

ps my credit score only rose by 22 points after the ccj was removed - it’s really very poor.

Thanks for the help too, I appreciate it.

That’s great! Thanks so much for the help and advice. Would you say I’ve done all I can right now in regards to returning my file to a better state of affairs - came to arrangements with the two creditors I have debts with and beginning to pay them back; CCJ removed from my file even though it hasn’t improved my score much at all.

Credit file will improve with time, just try to pay on time in future, no defaults CCJ`s etc.

Score counts for nothing, its credit history that`s important.
